Jake Roberts’ Feud With Randy Savage Ended Aruptly Because Miss Elizabeth’s Parents Were Furious

Jake Roberts is one of the most unique and talented wrestlers of all time. He is a WWE Hall of Famer as well. Despite being a popular figure back in the day, he had never held a championship in the Stamford-based promotion.

Another opportunity that he never got was to compete in the main event of the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania. Of course, he has competed on the event on a handful of occasions.

Recently, the WWE Hall of Famer was interviewed by Steve Fall of WrestlingNews.co. During the interview, Jake Roberts shared the real reason why he never got the opportunity to be part of the main event of WrestleMania.

He mentioned that one of the main reasons was that the promotion needed to end his storyline with Randy Savage abruptly because Savage’s in-laws were not that happy.

“Well, if I had done that, I’d still be at the company. When they pull a rug on that one too, it just really you know, f*cking frustrated me. You know. Really frustrated me… Yeah… yeah… yeah… Randy was getting… Randy was getting too much heat at home from his in-laws.

“They were going f*cking psychotic over what I did to Elizabeth. So they had to kibosh that thing and get it off the air. Great huh?” Jake Roberts said.

Roberts also mentioned that he was never the type of person to kiss ass his way to the top.

“I wasn’t doing the same. I don’t play that game. You know, probably one of my biggest mistakes was not being a part of the office. You know, not going in and hobnobbing and kissing ass and sucking d*ck or whatever you got to do. I’m not sure about the second one.”

Aftermath

Roberts once said that Elizabeth’s parents had such a problem with the angle that they banned Savage from their home. The program ended on TV in February 1992, but Roberts and Savage continued to wrestle on WWE live events. Roberts said Savage worked a more aggressive and violent style in an effort to “get revenge” on Roberts for slapping Elizabeth.

Savage went on to feud with Ric Flair at WrestleMania VIII. Roberts, on the other hand, worked a program with The Undertaker.

Did Roberts deserve a WrestleMania main event match?
