Kazuchika Okada is reportedly on WWE‘s radar.
In The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that there has been a renewed push to bring Kazuchika Okada in recently. Meltzer wrote that WWE has been interested in Okada for years, but he has remained loyal to NJPW.
However, the idea is that Okada is 36 now, and he is close with Shinsuke Nakamura. Meltzer noted that the WWE schedule has been easier on Nakamura’s body. The report cited a source who noted that part of the reason why Nakamura has been featured on WWE programming is to show Okada that WWE treats Japanese wrestlers better now from a creative standpoint.
To be clear, Meltzer acknowledged that WWE has had an eye on Kazuchika Okada for years. There is no sign that he is interested in leaving NJPW, but WWE has talked about him more lately.
Okada is one of NJPW’s top stars. He is a two-time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and a five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Okada is also a four-time G1 Climax winner.
