World and Goddess of STARDOM Championships Vacated

The World and Goddess of Stardom Championships were vacated at today’s Stardom press conference for the upcoming Nagoya Big Winter event.

Stardom’s Executive Producer, Rossy Ogawa, opened the press conference to address public speculation regarding the status of the World of Stardom and Goddess of Stardom titles. Due to injuries sustained by the World Champion Tam Nakano and one-half of the Goddess of Stardom Champions Natsupoi, both women relinquished their respective belts. This marks only the second time wherein the World Championship was vacated and the fifth occurrence for the Goddess belts.

World of Stardom Championship Status

Tam Nakano previously withdrew from the recent Gold Rush show. She was originally scheduled to defend the World of Stardom Championship against Suzu Suzuki. Tam’s knee injury was sustained after an awkward landing off her signature Violet Screwdriver (Falcon Arrow) back at the Golden Fight event in October.

The World Championship is now set to be contested in the singles main event of Stardom’s biggest annual event. Dream Queendom will be held on December 29th. Suzu Suzuki has been confirmed to be one of its competitors. She claimed victory in this year’s 5 Star Grand Prix. Her opponent will be determined in a one-night single elimination tournament. Competitors include Mina Shirakawa vs. Momo Watanabe and Maika vs. Ami Sohrei in the first round on Stardom’s Korakuen Hall show on November 28th.

Championship Status

On the other hand, the nature of Natsupoi’s injury remains undisclosed. But due to its severity, the promotion deems her medically unclear for in-ring competition. Her tag partner, Saori Anou, relinquished her belt as well alongside Natsupoi.

The promotion also announced that the Goddess of Stardom Championships will be contested in a regular tag match. This will take place at Nagoya Big Winter on December 2nd. While one challenging team is yet to be confirmed, Goddess Tag League winners Megan Bayne and Maika were announced to compete for the vacant titles.
