Cody Rhodes On Randy Orton: What An Incredible Mentor

Cody Rhodes discusses reuniting with Randy Orton.

At WWE Survivor Series, Randy Orton made his return to WWE for the first time since May 2022. He teamed up with Cody Rhodes’ team to defeat The Judgment Day in the Men’s WarGames Match.

Speaking at the WWE Survivor Series post-show press conference, Cody Rhodes was asked about teaming up with Randy Orton.

“At the end of the match, Randy said to me, ‘Thanks for the phone call.’ I wanted to tell him, ‘Thanks for my career,” Cody Rhodes said. “I keep thinking this is gonna end, and I couldn’t have got to where I got had I not been around Randy.

“Randy is so wild, chaotic, and you hear all these funny stories about him and all this nonsense. But as a performer, professional wrestler, WWE superstar, what an outstanding mentor he was to me. Truly. I’ll never forget standing in the ring at the Royal Rumble when he won, pointing at the WrestleMania sign. [I was] just thinking, ‘I want to be like him.’”

Cody Rhodes Had An Emotional Night At WWE Survivor Series

Cody Rhodes continued by stating that he was dealing with a lot of emotions on Saturday.

“I was really touched. I think [there were] a lot of emotions tonight because my father-in-law, he’s in the hospital. Michael Cole shouted him out on commentary, and I really appreciate that,” Cody Rhodes said. “Otis has been the biggest fan, and we love Otis, and want him to get better. So I was thinking about that, I was thinking about Randy. Then of course, cage opens up. For the first time in the day, I think, ‘Oh, this is my dad’s match. So, charmed life you guys have given me. I’m very lucky. Thank you guys.”

Randy Orton is set to appear on the November 27 episode of WWE RAW. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
