Fremantle Announces WWE Has Withdrawn From Home Video Category

It’s the end of an era, as WWE is set to stop releasing DVDs and Blu-rays.

Fremantle has had the license for WWE DVDs and Blu-Rays in Great Britain, but they announced that WWE will no longer be tapping into the Home Video category. They stated that no licensing deals will be renewed after 2023, so their final release is scheduled to be WWE Crown Jewel. According to the announcement, no future stock will be manufactured after December 31.

This brings Fremantle’s 11-year relationship with WWE Home Video to an end. WWE Home Video has been releasing DVDs, Blu-rays, and previously VHS tapes for 36 years.

Additionally, per Wrestling DVD Network, WWE Home Video is set to “shutter” at the end of the year. Barring any changes, the final DVD release in the United States would be WWE Survivor Series on December 26.

In an update, Haus of Wrestling shared the following statement from a WWE higher-up:

“The home video business has long been in decline, and it will no longer be a place where the company dedicates time and resources.”

WrestleZone will monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.
