Matt Riddle Confirmed For MLW Return

Matt Riddle is coming back to MLW.

MLW confirmed the move on Thursday, announcing his return in a new video.

MLW’s Court Bauer issued the following statement to WrestleZone on Riddle’s return to the company:

“Riddle played a big part in establishing MLW’s return to prominence when I brought the league back. He brings it with every match, against any wrestling style. Fast forward six years and our minds are blown away at the dream matches we have planned — and it starts with Riddle vs Fatu live on TrillerTV+ January 6 in Philly.”

Riddle’s MLW run

Kings Of Colosseum marks Riddle’s first match in MLW in nearly six years. Riddle lost a MLW World Championship final to Swerve Strickland on April 12, 2018.

Riddle’s return to MLW was hinted at early this week. A fan at Saturday’s Battleground Championship Wrestling event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia revealed that MLW was handing out ads for its next event. MLW Kings Of Colosseum will take place on January 6 at the same venue, and the postcard-sized ads featured Riddle on them in a match against Jacob Fatu.

Matt Riddle confirmed WWE released him on September 22. His last match for WWE was against the Viking Raiders on the September 4, 2023 episode of RAW.

Riddle will also appear at MCW Winter Blast on February 3, as well as at Big Time Wrestling’s The Reunion 3 in a match against Rob Van Dam on March 9, 2024.
