Andrade El Idolo Reportedly Finishing With AEW, Expected In WWE Imminently

Andrade El Idolo is reportedly exiting AEW.

Ahead of AEW Worlds End tonight, WrestlePurists is reporting that Andrade is set to finish up with AEW following his match with Miro and could be WWE-bound as soon as Monday’s Day 1 edition of WWE RAW.

Fightful Select adds that Andrade made it clear at the December 27 AEW Dynamite taping that he no longer wanted to be with the company. It was noted that the situation was “less than pleasant,” with some saying that a major disagreement took place.

Regarding a potential return to WWE, one source was “befuddled” at the idea of Andrade appearing so soon but there likely won’t be any kind of confirmation so soon considering he’s still tied to AEW. On Friday, Triple H all but confirmed that a former WWE Champion is expected to appear on the first RAW of 2024 but no other details have emerged on that front.

Andrade previously worked for WWE from the end of 2015 until the beginning of 2021. While there, he captured the NXT and United States Championship.

Update: Tony Khan confirmed Andrade’s contract is expiring “at the end of the year” during the AEW Worlds End post-show media scrum. Khan did not explicitly state the date, but insinuated that it will end on December 31. He said he did not expect Andrade to renew his contract and said that Andrade is going out on a high note after his performance in the Continental Classic.
