AEW Dynamite Results (1/31): Jon Moxley vs. Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, More

All Elite Wrestling will deliver a star-studded show with the January 31 episode of AEW Dynamite.

The results are as follows:

AEW Dynamite Results

Jon Moxley vs. Jeff Hardy

Moxley gains the upper hand early on and punches Hardy in the corner. Hardy sends him over the ropes and dives onto him at ringside. The veteran chokes Moxley with a towel. Moxley dives onto Hardy at ringside. He gets Hardy back into the ring and grounds him, The former AEW World Champion twists Hardy in a submission hold and maintains the advantage. Moxley slams Hardy into the barricade at ringside. Moxley squares off with some of the CMLL luchadores who are in the front row. Hardy throws a chair at Moxley.

Moxley regains the upper hand. He again grounds Hardy and controls the action. Hardy sends Moxley to the outside and hits a leaping dropkick off the apron. Hardy gains momentum with a flurry of offense. Moxley fires back with a piledriver. Hardy drops Moxley with a Twist of Fate onto the apron. He dives onto Moxley and gets a two-count.

Both men are down after Moxley superplexes Hardy. Hardy gets a two-count with a pin attempt and hits a Twist of Fate. Moxley dodges the Swanton Bomb and locks in a chokehold. Hardy passes out, so Moxley wins the bout.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Moxley offers Hardy a handshake, and Hardy flips him off. Moxley talks some trash with the CMLL luchadores. They jump the barricade and attack Moxley. Members of the AEW locker room make the save.

Hangman Page Battles Toa Liona

Hangman Page vs. Toa Liona

Page takes the fight to Toa Liona. Liona overpowers him, but Page fires up with a sliding lariat. Liona drills him with an uppercut. They trade blows. Page gets a two-count with a pin attempt and sends Liona to the outside. Liona flattens Page with a diving crossbody at ringside. The powerhouse maintains the advantage. Page rallies, but Liona sends him to the outside with a Pounce. He gets Page back in the ring and continues to control the action.

Page dodges a senton and dives onto Liona at ringside. He hits a crossbody for a two-count. Liona gains the upper hand again. Page keeps battling. He levels Liona with a lariat. Page hits the Deadeye, but Liona drills him with a stiff headbutt. Liona crushes Page with a senton. Page hits a moonsault to the outside. Liona counters the Buckeye, but Page stacks him up for the win.

Winner: Hangman Page

Liona goes to attack Page after the match, but he has it scouted.

The Young Bucks are shown arriving in a limo. They get upset when someone calls them “Nick and Matt”, as they want to be called the names that are on their birth certificates.

Wardlow (with Undisputed Kingdom) vs. Komander (with Alex Abrahantes)

Wardlow immediately overpowers Komander, who uses his quickness to counter the former TNT Champion. Komander rocks him with a kick. Wardlow catches Komander and slams him. Wardlow slams Komander and then again tosses him. Komander counters Wardlow and sends him into the steel steps. Komander keeps rallying, and he dives onto Wardlow with a dropkick. He hits a Phoenix Splash for a two-count. Wardlow slams Komander and dumps him with a powerbomb for the win.

Winner: Wardlow

After the bell, Roderick Strong gets a microphone and says Komander would pay the price for not taking his deal. AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, and Rocky Romero make the save.

Tony Schiavone hosts a sit-down interview with AEW World Tag team Champions Ricky Starks, Big Bill, Darby Allin, and Sting. Starks highlights the journey Sting has been on in AEW, and he notes that Sting scored his first AEW win against him. Allin says this was not about respect for Starks, as he viewed it as a stepping stone for Ricky. Starks and Allin get heated, and Ricky vows to retain the gold. Starks says he’s going to make sure that Sting does not make it to AEW Revolution.

Bill says Sting and Allin keep running their mouths, but they just brag about how they’ll ride into Revolution with the gold. Bill tells them they’re going to take out their frustrations on the duo next week. Sting notes that Starks had to earn his respect. He turns his attention to Big Bill and says he has faced plenty of big men, and they were killers. Allin says he respects Starks, but only one person was to blame for Starks’ shortcomings, and that was Ricky. They square off, and Sting holds Allin back. Sting says they’ll hit them next week.

Kyle Fletcher Takes On Chris Jericho On AEW Dynamite

Fletcher is accompanied to the ring by Don Callis and Powerhouse Hobbs. Jericho and Fletcher trade blows. Fletcher slams him to the mat. Jericho sends him to the outside. Fletcher takes control. He grounds Jericho and maintains the advantage. Jericho fires up with some punches and hits a hurricanrana off the top rope. Don Callis trips Jericho up at ringside. Fletcher gains the upper hand again. While the referee is distracted, Callis stomps on Jericho at ringside.

Back in the ring, Fletcher continues to control the action. Jericho rallies with some chops. They keep battling. Fletcher drills Jericho with a kick and gets a two-count with a brianbuster. Jericho rallies, but Hobbs interferes. Jericho perseveres and traps Fletcher in the Walls of Jericho, but Fletcher escapes. He gets a two-count with a Codebreaker. They trade strikes. Fletcher hits a brainbuster for a two-count. Fletcher dodges the Judas Effect and rocks Jericho with a kick. Jericho hits a Judas Effect in mid-air. He hits another diving Judas Effect for the win.

Winner: Chris Jericho

A video package highlights Deonna Purrazzo and her past with Toni Storm, as she explains the story behind the tattoo they both got.

The Bang Bang Scissor Gang (Jay White, The Gunns, and The Acclaimed) come to the ring. White says he’s a big fan of scissoring. Caster highlights the success of the two trios. They bring out the cardboard cutout of Juice Robinson, and they all scissor together.

Deonna Purrazzo Battles Taya Valkyrie

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm joins the broadcast team. Valkyrie and Purrazzo lock up and feel each other out. Taya gains the upper hand and grounds Purrazzo. Purrazzo sends Valkyrie to the outside, and Valkyrie dodges a dropkick. Johnny TV distracts Purrazzo, and Valkyrie drops her with a Spear. Valkyrie sends her into the steel steps. Valkyrie controls the action. She hits a sliding suplex. Purrazzo and Valkyrie trade blows.

Purrazzo drops Valkyrie with a Russian Legsweep. A pump kick drops Valkyrie. Valkyrie takes control, but Purrazzo perseveres. She squares off with Storm and sends Valkyrie crashing into her. Purrazzo locks Valkyrie in a submission hold and makes her tap out.

Winner: Deonna Purrazzo

Purrazzo stares down Toni Storm and talks some trash.

Backstage, Darby Allin is asked about his admiration for The Young Bucks. The Young Bucks show up and say they love Allin. Matthew calls Sting a blood-sucking leech and notes that he has an idea for a new gimmick for Allin, as they could be a trio. Nicholas says Allin is being unprofessional, and he asks if he has a problem. Allin says the tag team titles are the only thing on his mind. Matthew says they’ll have to get his attention a different way.

Swerve Strickland Faces Hangman Page’s Hand-Picked Opponent

AEW World Champion Samoa Joe joins the commentary team. Swerve Strickland’s opponent is revealed to be Rob Van Dam. Hangman Page appears on the video screen and says the bout will be a Hardcore Match. RVD throws a chair at Strickland and takes control. He hits a slingshot leg-drop. RVD hits his signature diving leg-drop while Swerve is hung up on the barricade. Back in the ring, Swerve drops RVD with a neckbreaker. Strickland gets a table and sets it up at ringside. Strickland hits RVD with a chair and slams him into one that he set up in the corner.

RVD counters and sends Swerve into the chair. He hits the Rolling Thunder. Swerve counters a monkey flip and hits a powerbomb onto a chair. Brian Cage runs down and shoves RVD off the top rope. HOOK makes the save, and they brawl. RVD gets a two-count with a pin-attempt.

Swerve slams RVD and gets a two-count. Strickland nails RVD with a kick and hits a Swerve Stomp. RVD sends Strickland crashing through a table at ringside. Strickland dodges the Frog Splash and kicks a chair into Van Dam’s face. Swerve hits the Swerve Stomp for the win.

Winner: Swerve Strickland

Hangman Page comes out after the match. He congratulates Swerve and notes that the AEW Rankings will come out later tonight. Page says they are probably at the top of the list. He tells Swerve he won’t let him be the one to dethrone Samoa Joe, as he says he will be the next world champion. Swerve says he has nothing left to prove, as Hangman can’t beat him. Page responds by saying Swerve needed the Mogul Embassy to beat him. He says Swerve can’t lace his boots. Swerve agrees to face Page one last time.
