Cash Wheeler Heading To Trial For Aggravated Assault With A Firearm

A new update on Cash Wheeler states that he is heading to trial.

In August 2023, The Orlando Sentinel reported that Cash Wheeler (real name Daniel Wheeler) was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. Wheeler filed a plea of not guilty on August 3.

At Wheeler’s arraignment hearing, the state described the situation as what appeared to be a road-rage type incident, in which Wheeler allegedly flashed his handgun at the alleged victim. It was said that Wheeler did not know the others who were involved. A requested bond of $25,000 was accepted by the judge. The police report can be found here.

Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Cash Wheeler was arraigned before Florida’s Orange County Court on February 20. Wheeler did not appear, but he entered a plea of not guilty. Johnson writes that the court set a trial date of May 20, with a pre-trial hearing set for May 7. The court ordered that Wheeler must appear at the pre-trial hearing.

As noted by Johnson, a conviction for aggravated assault with a firearm under Florida law could lead up to five years of imprisonment, five years of probation, and a $5,000 fine.

Wheeler is set to compete on the February 21 episode of AEW Dynamite. There, he and Dax Harwood are scheduled to face Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli.

In the original report, the Orlando Sentinel shared the following statement from AEW.

“AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. (Wheeler) is fully cooperating with local authorities.”

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
