Damage CTRL was formed by Bayley back in 2022. After being sidelined due to an injury for over a year, the former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion made a return at SummerSlam 2022. She came along with Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. The faction dominated SmackDown and the entire WWE. IYO SKY managed to capture the Money In The Bank briefcase, cash it in, and become the WWE Women’s Champion.
The team then grew as Asuka and Kairi Sane came into the picture. The Kabuki Warriors are also now the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. But things seemed to have taken a dark turn after Bayley won the 2024 Royal Rumble match.
On the SmackDown after the Royal Rumble, Damage CTRL (IYO SKY, Asuka, and Kairi Sane) turned on the founder of the faction. Bayley then decided to wrestle IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40. Then, Dakota Kai returned and seemed to have sided with the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Winner. But just a week later, she revealed her true colors as she sided with Damage CTRL and attacked Bayley.
The two will be wrestling each other later this week on SmackDown. While being interviewed on Raw Talk, Dakota Kai addressed her upcoming match against her former friend. Kai claimed that she would defeat Bayley and show the world that she is an overhyped failure.
“Calculated, calculated? Calculate this… Okay? Bayley, Bayley I know you are watching, all right? Funny thing about that is when we look your way, we don’t even see you. And this Friday, at SmackDown, everyone’s going to see what an overrated failure you are and always have been. You’ll get what’s coming,” Dakota Kai said.
Shelton Benjamin wants the WWE Universe to give Bayley more props
During an interview with the Black Rasslin’ Podcast, former WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin mentioned that Bayley is not getting the respect that she deserves. He reminded people that she won the 2024 Royal Rumble match but still people are only talking about Cody Rhodes finishing his story.
“This is to all social media. You need to be talking about Bayley a whole lot more,” Shelton Benjamin said. “Don’t get me wrong, everyone’s hot on The Rock and Cody and ‘finish the story.’ But at the same time, I say, like CM Punk said, Bayley won the Royal Rumble, and all anyone is talking about is Cody’s story.
“Give Bayley her flowers. I think she’s one of the most underrated girls on the roster. I feel like she’s underrated and underappreciated by the company, but not by the talent. We recognize what she is. Bayley should be world champion come April. That’s my personal opinion.”
