AJ Styles Says WWE Isn’t The Same As When Vince McMahon Was In Charge, Comments On Releases

AJ Styles says WWE is different now.

Earlier in 2024, WWE signed a major deal that will see RAW move to Netflix in 2025. This marks the next step in WWE’s new era, which has also seen Vince McMahon resign and Triple H take over.

Speaking with Tim Battle and Eli on the Battleground Podcast, AJ Styles was asked to share his thoughts on what WWE’s deal with Netflix would do for the company.

“I wish more guys who I think would do well in WWE, who may have been afraid, as far as past things have happened with Vince being there, I wish that they would understand that WWE is in this for the long run,” AJ Styles said. “We’re talking about ten years on Netflix, possibly twenty years. That’s a long time. We’re not going anywhere. The fact that you could come here and you could have a job, as long as you can produce, for as long as you want it, and depending where you’re from, man, you can reach out to countries.

“I just wish more guys would understand this. We are not just in the United States. We are global. We’re even bigger now than we’ve ever been. I just wish they could see that and know that. Listen, this isn’t the same WWE that Vince was in charge of. I really believe that Triple H looks at some [of] our talent and go, ‘Let’s get them better, or let’s find ways to bring out the best of them,’ rather than show off the worst.

AJ Styles: Triple H Makes Everyone Feel Important

AJ Styles continued by describing how crushing it is to get released. He noted that he never understood why the company would do that, rather than sending talent to NXT. Styles shared his belief that Triple H is doing a great job of making everyone feel important.

“Because a lot of those guys and girls, when they got released from WWE, it crushed them,” AJ Styles said. “I never understood why we want to do something like that, rather than just, ‘Okay, let’s send them back to NXT. They just need a little bit more work or something like that. But being released, it’ll crush you, and I don’t want to see people, their lives being ruined because of a job at the end of the day. It’s just a job.

“But still, it’s something they’ve worked for their whole life, and then when you’re told you’re not good enough, it sucks. But that’s not the way it is these days. Now with Triple H in charge, I think he’s doing a great job of making everyone feel important.”
