Kevin Nash Recalls The Atmosphere For WCW Road Wild: ‘It Was A Sh*t Show’

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently shared his thoughts on who he thinks was the reason for killing WCW.

While speaking on the Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash shared that he thinks it was due to things like having celebrities like Jay Leno come in and wrestle. Nash mentioned that the moment that Leno locked in an armbar and made Hollywood Hulk Hogan get down on his knees to sell was terrible, capping off the overall terrible atmosphere at the 1998 WCW Road Wild PPV.

“Yeah! But do you want to talk about what killed f*cking WCW? Jay Leno f*cking got one of the — I think he had Dallas in an armbar. You’re going to tell me that f*cking Jay Leno’s going to get you in an armbar? There was no gate. It was Sturgis. Yeah, it was Sturgis. It’s just like… number one, that was a f*cking sh*t show. I remember we did a f*cking Battle Royal in Sturgis. And I stood over the top rope. It was Hogan [who Jay Leno had trapped in an armbar].”

It is to be noted that many fans used to blame Nash and the ‘Finger Poke of Doom’ as the reason for the end of WCW.

Kevin Nash once walked away during a Battle Royal match

Nash also mentioned that he was done with the company at one point in time. He walked off from a Battle Royal match.

“We did… We had a Battle Royal and I f*cking… I stood over the f*cking top rope and f*cking just stepped down. They were throwing sh*t. I’m like, ‘F*ck this.’”

Kevin Nash mentioned that he was frustrated because the talent had to stay at a Quality Inn. He also mentioned that the attendance was poor in number and the ones who were at the arena were throwing stuff at the talent too.

“Probably I’m sure nobody called it because they probably went like, ‘What the f*ck’?… That’s enough of that sh*t. I think it was more the fact that we were staying in a Quality Inn. Name a time in your life when you stayed at a Quality Inn. Because… Yeah [That’s all they had.] Yeah… It’s like Custer, Rapid City.

“Yeah [the attendance] it was brutal. They f*cking threat[ened]… [I] remember they f*cking threw some bottle and f*cking hit Scott Norton with it,” Kevin Nash said.
