Sheamus was impressed by Pete Dunne‘s performance on Raw, despite losing.
The pair clashed in a Good O’l Fashion Donnybrook match on Raw, seemingly ending their long-running feud. Sheamus pinned Pete Dunne after a pair of Brogue Kicks, despite having his hands tied behind his back.
Sheamus showcased his scars from the violent match, which included tables, whiskey barrels and cricket bats. He posted the photo on Twitter, with the caption, “BUTCH IS DEAD. LONG LIVE PETE DUNNE. #Respect #Banger“, showing his respect for his former partner.
Pete Dunne gets his diploma from Banger Academy
Sheamus followed this up with an interview backstage with Cathy Kelley. The former WWE Champion was impressed by Pete Dunne, saying he graduated from Banger Academy with that bout.
He showed respect to the former NXT UK Champion, proclaiming that “Butch is dead” and addressing him by the name Pete Dunne.
“Honestly, I don’t know how it feels. A couple of years ago, I took him under my wing, called him Butch. I didn’t realize how much he hated that name. Well, I heard a lot about him, I heard how great he was in the ring, and tonight, he graduated from Banger Academy.”
“Butch is dead, long live Pete Dunne.”
“I mean, I had to put him through two tables off two-stacked, two-tier whiskey barrels, and he still just kept coming back and back and back. In a match I designed, I had to go to war, and at some stage, I didn’t even know where it was gonna end up. But he earned my respect tonight, and he is a tough bastard, I will give him that.”
“But, yeah, fella, as I said, Butch is dead, long live Pete Dunne. We may not like each other, we may not get on, but sure as hell, I respect you.”
