WWE NXT Results:
NXT Women’s North American Championship Match: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Karmen Petrovic w/Ashante “Thee” Adonis
Vaquer rolls Petrovic into several pinning combinations. Petrovic won’t stay down but can’t get an advantage. Petrovic manages to lock Vaquer in a modified full nelson using her legs. Vaquer and Petrovic trade submission holds. Petrovic lands a sling blade for a near fall. After the break, Vaquer lands the greatest move in NXT history, much to Booker T’s delight. Vaquer tries a springboard and dives right into a superkick by Petrovic. Vaquer kicks at two. Petrovic and Vaquer trade strikes. Vaquer catches a boot from Petrovic and lands a nasty dragon screw. Vaquer hits the SVB for the win.
Winner- Stephanie Vaquer
After the match, NXT Women’s Champion Giulia walks to the ring. Giulia congradulates Vaquer. Giulia notes that Vaquer says she is the best champion, but she isn’t. Both women want a match to prove who the best is. Champion vs. champion, title for title.
Grade: B-
This one started a bit wonky, but Petrovic and Vaquer pulled it together and had what ended up being a pretty fun match. Petrovic may have a future as a bad guy, but even with Adonis in her corner, it’s hard to know what to make of her or why we should care. Even still, she held her own tonight. Vaquer was clearly invested in making Petrovic look good tonight, and she succeeded. It’s wild that they are already setting up Guilia vs. Vaquer; it’s nonsensical. It’s way too soon. This has to end with a screwy finish to set up something else; if not, this writer has no idea what HBK is thinking.
TNA X-Division Championship Match: Moose (c) vs Lexis King
Moose lands a few strikes. King goes up top. Moose drop kicks King off the top. King fires up but gets caught with a uranage as he leaps off the top. King fires up again and gets a near fall after a diving crossbody. Moose stumbles to his feet. King hits his finish. Moose kick out. King tries it again but eats a Spear from Moose. Moose pins King.
Winner- Moose
After the match, NXT Champion Oba Femi walks to the ring and tells Moose their match at Roadblock has been made official. Femi is going to end Moose.
Grade: C+
This match was perfectly fine, but the amount of offense King got in was… was offensive. Look, if we are supposed to buy Moose as a threat to Femi, he can’t struggle to beat Lexis King. Femi should dog-walk Moose at Roadblock based on how hard he struggled against King tonight.
Power and Grace
Grace says she knew this was where she needed to be after coming to WWE last year. Grace has one goal: to become a champion in what she believes is the best women’s division in the world. Roxanne Perez interupts. Perez notes everyone wants to be a part of the division she made famous. Grace and Perez go back and forth. Grace says everyone has a plan until they get… and then Grace punches Perez. Perez narrowly escapes a DVD from Grace.
Grade: B
Good promo highlighting why Grace is here in NXT. Perez is/was the gatekeeper of NXT, so on her way out the door (there is a 90% chance Perez is going to win the Elimination Chamber- trust me here, it makes sense), it makes sense that Grace will get her win back from the last time they faced off.
TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys vs. Myles Borne & Tavion Heights w/No Quarter Catch Crew
Matt and Jeff work over Heights. Heights drives Jeff into his corner. Borne and Heights work over Matt. NXT Tag Team Champions, Axiom and Nathan Frazer are at ringside to watch the match. Jeff surprises Heights and Borne with a whisper in the wind. The Hardys get the win after a Twist of Fate/Swanton combo on Borne.
Winners- The Hardys
After the match, The Hardys challenges Fraxiom to a match. TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella walks out on the stage and books the match at Roadblock. The Hardy’s TNA tag titles will be on the line.
Grade: C+
This get a nostalgia bump! Beyond that, nothing to write home about here. If you have ever seen a Hadry Boyz TV match, they plaid ther hits here tonight.
Lola Vice vs. Arianna Grace
Grace lands a few punches and gets way too excited about it. Vice unloads on Grace with strikes. Running hip attack by Vice. Grace fires up and slams Vice into the ring post. Vice drops Grace with a spinning back fist.
Winner- Lola Vice
Grade: C+
Grace got some offense in. That’s new.
Ricky Saints & Je’Von Evans vs. Wes Lee & Ethan Page
Page and Evans trade shots. Page runs away and tags in Lee. Evans chases Page, but Lee’s goons step in the way. Lee surprises Evans with a Dropkick through the ropes. Evans and Lee trade reversals. Evans gets a near fall after a dropkick. Saints tags in and clears the ring. Lee slaps Saints. Saints unload on Lee with rights and lefts. Evans and Saints clear the ring.
After the break, Page and Lee are working over Evans. Page gives Evans a backbreaker using the top turnbuckle. Evans manages to tag in Saints. Saints lands a flurry of offense, including a beautiful tornado DDT on Page. Saints destroys Lee with a Spear. Page breaks up the pin. Evans sends Page into the crowd, and the two fight off. Lee tries the Kardiac Kick, but Saints reverses it into the Rochambeau for the win.
Winners- Ricky Saints & Je’Von Evans
Grade: B
Good debut match for Saints. As always the incumbent NXT stars worked to make the new guy look good. Saints looked to be special in AEW, so it will be a joy to see what he can do when he isn’t being benched for no deceranable reason. Saints gets a special plus one tonight for catches Lee on his springboard for the finish. That could have been bad but Saints managed to pul it off.
