WWE SmackDown Viewership Decreases Against March Madness On 3/21

WWE SmackDown saw a decrease in viewership on March 21.

According to Wrestlenomics (via Programming Insider), SmackDown averaged 1.459 million viewers on Friday. The show drew a 0.39 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The viewership is down from last week’s episode, when an average of 1.571 million viewers tuned in. The demo is also down from last week’s show (0.52 rating in the same demographic).

SmackDown was up against coverage of March Madness on Friday, which led the night on cable on Friday. SmackDown’s total viewership on Friday marked its lowest since February 14, and the demographic viewership was the show’s lowest since December 20. The show ranked #5 in the night on cable on Friday.

What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?

This week’s show kicked off with a promo from Randy Orton which was quickly interrupted by Kevin Owens. A match was set up between these two men for WrestleMania.

Braun Strowman defeated Jacob Fatu via disqualification when Solo Sikoa and Toma Tonga interfered. Strowman will face LA Knight next week for the United States Championship.

Elsewhere on the show, thanks to interference from Naomi, Liv Morgan picked up a victory over Jade Cargill.

In the closing segment of the evening, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk briefly speak before brawling with each other to close the show.
