OZAWA and Kaito Kiyomiya square off in a rematch for the GHC Heavyweight Championship nearly five months after their first title encounter.
OZAWA defended his GHC Heavyweight Title against KENTA at the NOAH 25th Anniversary Memorial Voyage show in Ryōgoku Kokugikan. This was KENTA’s first shot at the title since returning to NOAH at the promotion’s NOAH The New Year 2025 show earlier this January. However, with a quick assist from his Team 2000X allies, OZAWA was able to land a picture perfect Phoenix Splash to retain.
Before the champion could speak into the mic, Kaito Kiyomiya emerged from the entrance ramp to confront him. The Ryōgoku crowd erupted in boos as Kiyomiya entered through the ropes. The crowd reaction did not catch Kaito by surprise as he received a similar response in his previous encounter with OZAWA.
“OZAWA, it’s been a while. I think what you do is also for NOAH. Thank you for making NOAH popular. But, it’s me who will defeat a monster like you. The next challenger will be Kaito Kiyomiya,” he says. Kaito lost his GHC Heavyweight Title to OZAWA this past January 1st. It was during that match that the NOAH crowd turned against Kaito, the ace of NOAH, to cheer for OZAWA who was showcasing his charisma and athleticism in a high stakes main event match.
NOAH has confirmed that the rematch will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Korakuen Hall for their Star Navigation 2025 show.
