Deonna Purrazzo Makes History In Ring Of Honor

Deonna Purrazzo made history with the first women’s Pure Rules Match in Ring of Honor.

Purrazzo, who’s known to headline TNA pay-per-view events and held both the TNA and Ring of Honor Women’s Championships at the same time. Last week, the AEW star made history once again this time in Ring of Honor.

Known for its distinctive match styles, ROH introduced its first-ever women’s Pure Rules Match during the May 3, 2025, tapings following AEW Collision in Atlantic City. Fans in attendance got a double treat live AEW action and a stacked night of ROH tapings.

The Ring of Honor taping, which aired on May 9, 2025, featured a night full of exciting matches and historic moments. Atlantis Jr. scored a big win over Jay Lethal, while Marina Shafir defeated Leila Grey.

Blake Christian and Lee Johnson teamed up to take down the Spanish Announce Project. In an ROH Women’s World Television Title Proving Ground Match, Red Velvet beat Laynie Luck to prove her dominance.

Satnam Singh defeated Lord Crewe. In an another Proving Ground Match for the ROH World Title, Bandido successfully defeated Gringo Loco. However, the night’s most historic moment came when Deonna Purrazzo faced Ashley Vox in the first women’s Pure Rules Match in ROH history.

Deonna Purrazzo forced Ashley Vox to submit to the Venus de Milo, taking advantage after Vox had already used two of her three rope breaks. Vox had no choice but to tap out to Purrazzo.

Ring of Honor introduced the Women’s Pure Championship and will crown the first-ever champion through an upcoming tournament. Deonna Purrazzo is competing in the tournament. It will be interesting to see if she becomes the inaugural champion or not.
