Julia Hart’s Dad Told Her She Was Related to Bret Hart

AEW star Julia Hart revealed that her dad once told her his uncle was Bret Hart, and she just went along with it.

In an interview on AEW Unrestricted, Julia Hart opened up about competing in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and reflected on the significance of sharing the last name with WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart, even though she isn’t related to the him and his famous wrestling family.

“Oh, I love it, just because, like, my last name is Hart. So I feel like even though I’m not related, I’m not related, but, like, I still do feel a connection.” She then shared a playful family story, “Because growing up, my dad said his uncle was Bret Hart, and I was just like, ‘Yeah, I’m just gonna agree with that.’ So people thinking cool, but just being in that really meant a lot, just to have the same last name, even though not related, but yeah, it’s still really cool.”

Hart, who has been with the company for several years, credited Darby Allin for inspiring her approach to cinematic vignettes. “A lot of people ask me, like, ‘How did you go do that?’ Or ‘How did you go about that?’ And I got my advice from Darby with that, he told me, he was like, ‘If you have a vision, you need to go do it yourself and show you and show them,’ shooting myself with a bow and arrow, and then I come out of a dream.”

Julia Hart opens up about winning, losing the AEW TBS Title, and her injury setback

Julia Hart made history at AEW Full Gear 2023 by becoming the youngest champion in company history after winning the TBS Title. She held the championship for over 150 days before losing it to Willow Nightingale at AEW Dynasty. Shortly after the match, reports confirmed she had suffered a shoulder injury.

Looking back on the moment, Hart said, “When it happened, I knew exactly what it was,” Hart said, admitting she was “sad that it happened when I was champion” but was “really happy for Willow [Nightingale] to get that moment.”

Reflecting on becoming the the youngest TBS Champion at just 22 she said, “It was like that last end of 2023, was, like, felt like I jumped like, five years of my life. I’m still so young… I still have so much more after this… So it was just like, ‘Okay, how can I make this one the best that I can?’… not like, going over my head, like, ‘Oh, I’m the TBS champion. I know everything now.’ Like, No, I still have so much to learn.”

Hart has clear goals in her mind as she wants to speak more confidently in front of the crowd without feeling nervous. “Probably I want to talk more… If there was be a moment where I could talk in front of the crowd and not be nervous too and just, you know, full throttle. I would love to be the one people are like, ‘Oh, wow. Like I learned something from Julia.’ So hopefully I just strive to do that… and hopefully always, like, pulling someone else up with me as well.” [H/T: Wrestlingnews.co]
