Lisa Marie Varon gets her flowers.
In the ring, Mickie James and Lisa Marie Varon have been the best of allies and the worst of enemies. Regardless of their personal status, though, James asserts that Varon is one of the greatest of all time.
“IMO @REALLiSAMARiE never gets the credit she deserves,” James wrote on X. “Legitimately one of the best wrestlers I’ve ever had a chance to share the ring with. Intensity; believability; & commitment to every moment. Let it be known she is 1 of the goats. She is beyond deserving of her flowers”

Below James’ post came a video of their TNA Knockouts Championship match from December 2012 in which Jessie Godderz accompanied Varon (as Tara). Toward the end, Godderz pulled James’ leg as she attempted to re-enter the ring, prompting special guest referee Taryn Terrell to scold him. At the same time, Varon nailed James with an inverted atomic drop, then pinned her to retain the Knockouts Championship.
Outside of TNA, Mickie James and Varon had crossed paths several times under the WWE banner. Last year, Varon inked a WWE Nostalgia contract (also known as Legends deal), which opened the door for future WWE video game appearances as well as merchandise. Meanwhile, James served as a coach on season one of WWE LFG.
In WWE, Lisa Marie Varon is two-time Women’s Champion. In TNA, she enjoyed five reigns as Knockouts Champion and one as Knockouts Tag Team Champion.
