Is Britt Baker looking to get out of her contract with AEW?
The former AEW Women’s Champion has not been seen on television since November 2024. She is still reportedly under contract with AEW for at least another year. However, Baker is reportedly attempting to get out of her current deal to leave the promotion.
According to a new report from Bodyslam.net (via Patreon), Britt Baker is “actively seeking to part ways with AEW.” It’s unclear what Baker has done to get out of her existing deal, but the report notes that AEW isn’t looking to release her anytime soon.
Bodyslam writes that sources claim Baker feels like there’s nothing else keeping her in AEW at this point. This was highlighted by pointing out “burned bridges” and a sense that the company has changed in her absence.
Britt Baker has not publicly commented on her status or the rumors about her attempting to leave the company. However, she did spark further speculation on her whereabouts due to a cryptic social media post.
Other sources deny Britt Baker is trying to get out of AEW
Despite the initial report, Fightful (via Fightful Select) claims sources “familiar with” Baker’s situation say any talk of Baker wanting out of AEW is “news to them.” Furthermore, it was noted that every source Fightful spoke to about Baker “vehemently denied” that she was actively trying to get out of the company.
Baker is not currently booked for Starrcast, but there’s no confirmation if she’s expected in Dallas for All In. It was also stressed that Baker is still under contract for over a year. That could also be extended into 2027 if injury time was added on. Baker was scheduled to face Serena Deeb last year, but the match didn’t materialize. It was noted that there were pitches to bring Baker back to TV, but there were “hold-ups” that halted those discussions.
Britt Baker was the first contracted female wrestler in company history. The company announced her arrival at the AEW introductory press conference on January 8, 2019. She is a former AEW Women’s World Champion, holding the title one time for 290 days. She also won the 2022 Women’s Owen Hart Cup. Baker also took part in one of the most memorable matches in company history, a bloody Unsanctioned Lights Out match against Thunder Rosa on the St. Patrick’s Day Slam 2021 edition of Dynamite.
