Kevin Knight Will Stay On ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey’s Good Side For His Face’s Best Interest

Kevin Knight says he and ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey bring out the best in each other.

Knight spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of AEW All In: Texas. There, he and ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey will be one of two teams challenging The Hurt Syndicate for the AEW Tag Team Championship. Knight and Bailey linked up after the $400,000 Prize match on the April 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, and they’ve now adopted the name ‘JetSpeed.’

Knight says they’ve been on the same page since then, but they’ve also been able to help each other and it’s been a “cool experience” overall.

“Me and Speedball, he brings the best out of me. I bring the best out of him. We have a lot of history from our old TNA days. Even our bout in New Japan at the All-Star festival,” Knight explained. “Speedball is very knowledgeable in wrestling and I’m always looking to learn. So, being able to have a tag team partner that’s so knowledgeable, so open to spit knowledge [is great]. And [he’s] getting me more out of my shell. He has his vlog every week. Every week, about two times during a taping, he’s like, ‘Yeah, let’s go vlog. Let’s go talk to the people.’ So, it’s very much an all-around cool experience. He met my family last week and everything. So, me and Speedball definitely have a natural connection, “the vibes”, is how you would describe it.”

Kevin Knight likes having Bailey as a friend rather than foe

Knight says that he likes working with Bailey rather than against him for a good reason — Speedball’s kicks hurt. Bailey said they got together based on ‘vibes’, and Knight says it’s pretty easy to keep those vibes going.

“Well, the biggest thing is, I just want to stay on Speedball’s good side. Because I’ve been on the receiving end of those kicks. And I don’t want to be on the other side again. So, me and Speedball are gonna stay like this for my best interest. For my face’s best interest. So, outside of that reasoning, it’s been pretty easy like, he’s coming up with ideas, I’m coming up with ideas, and we are both like, we just want to do cool stuff.

“Speedball has a great mind for putting things together. So, it’s pretty easy keeping those vibes going. And we joke around a lot. We observe, we are both very new to the AEW locker rooms. So, we stick together in that aspect. Trying to learn how things operate and yeah, we are just in it together. We are stronger together than we are apart. So, I keep that in mind.”

AEW All In: Texas takes place on Saturday, July 12. Check out our full interview with Kevin Knight below:
