Ric Flair weighs in on Tiffany Stratton’s infamous promo about Charlotte Flair’s divorces.
During the build to their match at WrestleMania 41, Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair had a promo battle that seemed to go off-script. The exchange saw Stratton say Charlotte had an “0–3 record at marriages,” bringing up the Queen’s respective divorces.
Charlotte Flair has addressed the promo since then, including at a WrestleMania 41 after party. She said that she didn’t love what happened, but at least it made people anticipate the match more. Flair also addressed the promo in a column for The Players’ Tribune, where she said that the remark “rocked her” legitimately. She moved past it, but personal attacks like that still sting.
“So when it got mentioned in Chicago that I have an “0–3 record at marriages” … yeah, it rocked me legit. I’m not too proud to tell you that. I don’t need everyone thinking I’m playing 5-D chess all of the time. My reaction to that line was as genuine as it gets. Because — and maybe this makes me naive — in my head?? Charlotte hasn’t been divorced. So I wasn’t expecting it to come up in that promo….. and then all of a sudden I had an entire arena cheering as I got mocked for something that was (and frankly still is) devastating to me,” Flair wrote.

Now, Charlotte‘s father, Ric Flair, weighed in on the exchange and said he wasn’t a fan of the “cheap shot” either. Ric Flair appeared on Monday’s episode of the Ariel Helwani Show and addressed the promo in question. During the conversation, Helwani said that he “didn’t like the cheap stuff,” and Flair clarified that Helwani was talking about Tiffany’s promo on his daughter.
“You know what? I’m embarrassed for her, and… I’m not going to say anymore. I don’t want it to affect anything. But that was the cheapest shot I’ve ever heard in my life,” Flair said.
Helwani said he wasn’t sure if it was a work or shoot, and Flair said it was hurtful, no matter what it was.
“Whatever it was, it was hurtful. If it was a shoot, that’s even worse,” Ric Flair said. “Because that’s nothing to joke about.”
