AEW Dynamite Results:

This week’s episode of Dynamite kicks off with a video package of the Texas Death Match at All In between Hangman Page and Jon Moxley. They will face each other in a rematch for the AEW World Championship later tonight.

AEW World Tag Team Titles Eliminator Tournament: Young Bucks vs. The Outrunners

  • The finish of the match saw the Young Bucks hit Turbo Floyd with the TK Driver to score the pinfall victory.

Winners: Young Bucks

After the match, Kazuchika Okada comes to the ring and three of them beat on The Outrunners until Swerve Strickland comes out to even the odds.

Grade: A

This was a fantastic tag match to kick off the show. The Young Bucks are playing their new roles beautifully, and they gave The Outrunners a great match. This was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it.

Mark Briscoe isn’t focused on his match

Mark Briscoe is backstage with Renee Paquette. Briscoe wants to know where MJF is. Ricochet and GOA interrupt and tell him to worry about his match with him tonight. Briscoe says he’s a different man than the guy Ricochet faced at Double or Nothing, and he’s going to beat his ass tonight. Mark tries to set his attention back on MJF, but Kaun tells Briscoe to respect Ricochet.

MJF is out of The Hurt Syndicate

MJF is backstage trying to downplay what happened last week with The Hurt Syndicate. Friedman knocks on their locker room door, and Shelton Benjamin answers. Benjamin says MVP and Lashley aren’t there, and MVP isn’t there because he’s disgusted with what MJF did last week.

Benjamin calls MJF out on the cheap watch he gave him and says they’ve been on to him for months, and the only reason he wasn’t laid out months ago was because MVP stuck his neck out for him. Shelton confirms MJF is out of the Hurt Syndicate and gives him a thumbs down. Friedman is distraught and screams at the cameraman.

Has Christian Cage found himself?

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and brings out Christian Cage. After much reflection, Cage admits that he’s an asshole. Cage says he didn’t follow the plan to cash in his contract because he didn’t think they were competent enough to stick to the plan.

Christian says he took a big risk, and it didn’t pay off. Cage turns his attention to Adam Copeland and believes what he said to Cope in the past really wasn’t that bad, and that he’s also done some terrible things in the past. Cage says Copeland told him to find himself and says maybe he did and maybe he didn’t, but says he and Cope are the same.

Christian says what he did to The Patriarchy came from the scars of his past, but what they did to him comes from entitlement. Cage says Nick Wayne has more talent than he does and admits he is the prodigy. Cage says if Wayne wants to get to the top of AEW, he’ll have to get through him because he disowns Wayne and Sabian.

Christian goes to leave but is attacked on the stage by Wayne, Sabian, and Mother Wayne. They conchairto Cage and Wayne tells him that he disowns him.

FTR and the Young Bucks on the same page?

Stokely Hathaway and FTR are backstage. Hathaway says he got Copeland banned from the building tonight and hopes to see him banned tomorrow on Collision, too. Hathaway hypes up FTR’s match tomorrow with the Bang Bang Gang. The Young Bucks come in, and FTR shows them respect. FTR leaves, and Hathaway runs his mouth a bit, upsetting the Bucks in the process.

AEW World Championship: Hangman Page (c) vs. Jon Moxley

  • After a ref bump, the Death Riders attempted to interfere, but Hangman Page still kicked out after Jon Moxley hit him with the title. Security removes the Death Riders, and Darby Allin dives on top of them from the balcony. The finish of the match saw Page hit Moxley with the Buckshot Lariat to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still AEW World Champion, Hangman Page

Grade: A

This was a wild match. While I’m annoyed that a match based on no outside interference still had some? Yes. However, the match was so good and we got the right finish, it’s hard to complain. We should now finally be without Moxley in the title picture for the foreseeable future, and I couldn’t be happier about that.

Athena and Billie Starkz vs. Toni Storm and Alex Windsor

  • The finish of the match saw Athena hit the O-Face on Toni Storm to score the pinfall victory for her team.

Winners: Athena and Billie Starkz

Grade: B+

Seeing Toni Storm take a rare loss on Dynamite is a big deal. The run of Athena on AEW so far has been great, and it’s been long overdue. I’m interested to see when she chooses to cash-in the contract.

MJF doesn’t get the hint

Hangman Page is backstage in his locker room with Renee Paquette. Page is interrupted by MJF, who once again tries to trick Page into giving him a shot at the title without having to use his contract. Hangman says he’s not that stupid, and MJF will either have to earn it or use his contract because there is a line of people more deserving of a title shot than him.

Page mentions Mark Briscoe and MJF calls them hicks sticking together. Hangman reminds MJF that he doesn’t see the Hurt Syndicate around and questions why he shouldn’t kick MJF’s ass right now. Friedman grumbles and leaves.

Ricochet (w/ GOA) vs. Mark Briscoe

  • The finish of the match saw Mark Briscoe hit Ricochet with the Jay Driller to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Mark Briscoe

Grade: B+

After the match, Briscoe gets on the microphone and calls out MJF. Friedman’s music plays, but he doesn’t come out. MJF shows up on the Tron and says Mark sounds serious, but he doesn’t take him seriously. Friedman says he went to Tony Khan and got a match made between them next week if he makes it. MJF attacks Briscoe from behind. Page hits the ring and Friedman runs away like a coward as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

I thought this was an excellent episode of Dynamite tonight. We had a lot of great matches and storyline advancement throughout the show.

My only nitpick is the layout of tonight’s show. I definitely think Page and Moxley should have closed this show. The segment between Page and MJF easily could have just taken place tomorrow on Collision. The same with Briscoe calling out Friedman. There was no need to put this show in the order they did.

Despite that, this show was awesome, and I’m honestly just nitpicking at this point. Really great stuff from AEW tonight.
