Report: What Things Were Set Up In WWE: Unreal? Internal Reactions To The Series

For better or for worse, everyone in the wrestling industry is currently discussing Netflix’s new docuseries, WWE: Unreal.

The highly anticipated documentary series WWE: Unreal was released earlier this week on Netflix. The series was advertised as giving fans unprecedented access to the behind-the-scenes workings of the company. But how much of it was real, and how much was a work?

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), talent weren’t given anything they weren’t allowed to say. So what you saw from the WWE roster on this show was 100% genuine. One talent even joked that they didn’t realize until now just how much the word “f*ck” is thrown around backstage.

What was set up for the show?

As far as things that were set up, Sapp reports that the scene where the women’s locker room gathered around to welcome Charlotte Flair back after her Royal Rumble win was something the company asked the roster to do. However, this isn’t something that was forced upon them, and gathering performers for moments is something that is common practice for television shows.

While some members of the women’s roster speculated to Sapp that the SmackDown promo between Flair and Tiffany Stratton was manufactured for Netflix, there is nothing to confirm these theories, and they are purely speculation.

One WWE producer was concerned about the authenticity of the show when it was announced, but ended up being pleased with how the series turned out.

Overall, WWE sources that Sapp spoke with are happy about the buzz the show has received online.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
