WWE Raw Results: Review, Grades, Card For August 4

Our WWE RAW results for tonight include the fallout from the first-ever two-night SummerSlam premium live event, the third round in the ongoing rivalry between Sheamus and Rusev, Adam Pearce confronting new World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair will appear, and we’ll find out what’s next for Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch.

The announced card is as follows:

WWE RAW Results:

Tonight’s episode of RAW kicks off with a video package recapping the two-night SummerSlam premium live event.

In the arena, new World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring with Paul Heyman, Bronson Reed, and Bron Breakker. Heyman declares himself the GOAT and says he’s your humble Oracle. Heyman puts over Breakker, Reed, and Rollins.

Seth Rollins says shame on Brooklyn and every fan who turned their back on him after he won the main event of WrestleMania. Rollins shames the fans who have taunted him for months with chants for CM Punk and Roman Reigns. Rollins says to never doubt him again.

Seth says he’s been a marked man for months, and shame on everyone in the back who tried to stop him from cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. Rollins says he always has a plan B. Rollins says he only told Becky Lynch and Paul Heyman his plan, and they now have absolute power. Seth says this is The Vision, confirming the name of his stable.

Let me talk to ya!

This brings out LA Knight. Knight congratulates them but wants to talk to them. Knight says he’s not out there for a fight, but he’s got questions that he wants answers to. LA Knight accuses Rollins of faking the injury to get out of another match with him.

Knight says he’s the last person to beat Rollins, and he’ll be the next person to beat him again. Knight says when he beats Rollins again, he’ll take the World Heavyweight Championship from him and challenges him to a match tonight.

Rollins says no and leaves, but this brings out Adam Pearce. Pearce says he wouldn’t typically make a title match without promotion, but he typically doesn’t deal with lying superstars and medical teams and books the match for tonight. Pearce bans Breakker and Reed from ringside for that title match.

The Judgment Day has all kinds of problems

The Judgment Day are backstage. Dominik Mysterio is bragging about his win over AJ Styles at SummerSlam. Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez say they need to regroup and walk away. Mysterio gets in an argument with the LWO and accepts a challenge from Dragon Lee later on tonight.

AJ Styles approaches and tells Dominik he was clever doing what he did at SummerSlam, but he’s still coming after the Intercontinental Title, and as long as Mysterio holds it, that means he’s coming after him.

Rusev vs. Sheamus

  • The finish of the match saw the match end in a double countout.

Winner: No contest

The two continue to brawl at ringside after the match as security tries to separate them.

Grade: B

Did we really need to go with a no-contest for the rubber match? I’m assuming they are going down the similar path that formed The Bar tag team with Sheamus and Cesaro, where they will eventually respect each other through fighting so much that they team up instead. But I don’t know, I’m kinda already over this? Oh well, moving on…

The New Day continue to use Grayson Waller

The New Day are backstage, still grieving the loss of their tag titles. Grayson Waller comes in and questions why they weren’t out there with him for his match with Sheamus last week until it dawned on him that they were teaching him a lesson.

New Days says Pearce isn’t giving them a rematch for their titles, and until they get them back, they won’t feel better. Waller approaches Pearce, who is talking with Penta, and demands that he give New Day a rematch. Pearce says they can have a shot when they earn it and books Waller in a match with Penta. That match is next.

Penta vs. Grayson Waller

  • The finish of the match saw Penta hit Grayson Waller with a variation of the Mexican Destroyer to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Penta

After the match, New Day check on Waller as Woods gets in Penta’s face. Penta beats up both members of the New Day and puts on Woods’ hat before throwing it at them, diving on them, and leaving up the aisle.

Grade: B-

The match was fine, based on what I saw. But they spent way more time focusing on the New Day doing commentary than the actual match itself. It’s evidently clear where WWE’s focus was with this matchup, and it wasn’t on the action in the ring.

Welcome back to WWE RAW Charlotte & Alexa

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are walking backstage as Rusev and Sheamus go by them, brawling through the backstage area. Bliss and Flair seemingly pay them no mind and continue to walk.

A recap package airs from SummerSlam featuring the return of Brock Lesnar.

Michael Cole claims on commentary that he had a sit-down interview with Nick Khan and Triple H today and asked how the Lesnar return came about. Cole says they told him they reached out a number of weeks ago and told him it was time to come home, and Lesnar’s response was let’s do it. Cena will speak on the return of Lesnar this Friday on SmackDown.

Are they finally friends…?

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair make their way to the ring. Flair says it feels amazing to be a champion again. Bliss says they are champions again. Flair says it’s nice to do something as we as a change, and if Bliss stops hitting her in the head, maybe they can be friends.

Flair and Bliss go back and forth about how many titles they’ve won until they are interrupted by The Judgment Day. Raquel Rodriguez doesn’t understand why anyone would want to be friends with Charlotte. Roxanne Perez says the only thing that matters is bringing gold back to The Judgment Day.

Rodriguez and Perez want a rematch tonight. Flair and Bliss accept. Pearce comes out and makes the match official; the match happens now.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles: Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair (c) vs. The Judgment Day

  • The finish of the match saw Alexa Bliss hit Roxanne Perez with Sister Abigail to score the pinfall victory for her team.

Winners: And still WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair

Grade: B+

This was the most entertaining match of the night so far. Bliss and Flair and really gelling together well as a team, and I’m sure they will only continue to improve in the weeks ahead. Very fun match!

Will Rhea Ripley ever beat IYO SKY?

IYO SKY is backstage talking with the Kabuki Warriors. She’s interrupted by Rhea Ripley. Ripley mentions she heard SKY went to Pearce for a one-on-one match with Naomi. SKY points out she wasn’t pinned at SummerSlam. Ripley says to get the title back so she can beat her for it. SKY says Ripley will never beat her.

Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee

  • The finish of the match saw interference from THREE different El Grande Americano’s which led to Dominik Mysterio scoring the pinfall victory.

Winner: Dominik Mysterio

After the match, AJ Styles hit the ring and got some hits in on Dominik before he ran away.

Grade: B

Dom and Dragon Lee were having a good match, which was very much ruined by that stupid overbooked finish. Sometimes WWE gets too cute for their own good, and that was a perfect example.

Sami Zayn can’t mind his own business

Sami Zayn is backstage with Jackie Redmond backstage. Zayn talks about finally being able to move on from Karrion Kross. Sheamus and Rusev come through, continuing the brawl, and Zayn tries to break them up. He gets a punch in the face by Rusev for his troubles and Zayn gets upset about it.

What’s next for Becky Lynch?

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch comes out to the ring and brags about Lyra Valkyria not being able to get any more title shots. Lynch says it’s time for other women to step up, but not tonight.

This brings out Nikki Bella, who talks about what a disappointment Lynch has been to the division. They go back and forth about lying and Hollywood. Shots are exchanged about Seth Rollins and Nikki’s ex-boyfriend John Cena. The crowd chants, “Holy sh*t!”

Lynch says she came up from NXT to combat her era, so don’t come and talk to her about her era. Bella challenges Lynch for a shot at the title. Lynch sucker punches Bella and leaves.

Naomi is backstage with Byron Saxton, who says she feels great about her win, and everyone else is looking stupid. Naomi mentions her match with IYO SKY next week. Stephanie Vaquer interrupts, saying no matter who wins next week, she’s winning the title in Paris. Naomi says it will be her and she will shove Vaquer’s horns so far up her ass in Paris she’ll leave with a limp.

Lynch accepts another challenge instead

Natalya, with Maxxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa, confronts Becky Lynch backstage. Natalya is upset about how Lynch treated Nikki Bella and challenges her to a match next week. Lynch accepts, but says it will be with Maxxine.

World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins (c) (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. LA Knight

  • The finish of the match saw CM Punk attack Seth Rollins, leading to a DQ finish.

Winner: And still World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins

Grade: B

After the match, Breakker and Reed hit the ring and lay out both Punk and Knight. They tease that the show is going off the air, but Roman Reigns comes out and attacks Breakker and Reed, but eventually gets stomped by Rollins. Breakker hits him with a spear, and Reed hits him with multiple Tsunamis before stealing his sneakers again as WWE RAW goes off the air.

WWE RAW Review:

Coming off the momentum of SummerSlam, this was a pretty disappointing show. It just kinda feels like it was a transition episode instead of capitalizing on what they did at SummerSlam over the weekend.

While this was perfectly acceptable for an average week’s show, I feel like WWE dropped the ball tonight when it comes to continuing the momentum they gained over the weekend.

Grade: B
