Mercedes Moné Reveals What She Wants Next for AEW’s Women’s Division

Mercedes Moné has set her sights on making women the main event of an AEW pay-per-view.

She recently made history by becoming “9-Belt Moné” after winning her ninth championship just before AEW Forbidden Door. She defeated Emersyn Jayne at Rev Pro’s Global Wars UK event. This followed her winning the Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship.

At AEW Forbidden Door in the O2 Arena in London, Moné successfully defended her AEW TBS Championship against Alex Windsor, Bozilla, and Persephone. After the win, she declared herself the greatest women’s wrestler of all time.

Speaking with TV Insider ahead of Forbidden Door, Mercedes Moné said her next aim is to see women main event an AEW pay-per-view. She said, “I want to see the women main event on pay-per-view. I feel that is the next big thing we can do and accomplish. I feel within the last year-and-a-half people have really seen how amazing this women’s division is.”

“Before they were just given a little match here, a little match here. People were demanding more time for them. They want to see the women because they are such stars. Within this last year-and-a-half you’ve seen stars come up like Toni Storm with her character change.”

Moné also highlighted Athena being one the best in the world and new talents like Megan Bayne, Alex Windsor, and others, who push the competition forward. “You’ve seen Athena show up on AEW Dynamite, and I think she is one of the best in the world. We have new women coming in all the time like Megan Bayne, Alex Windsor and others who are always keeping you on your toes,” she continued. “You are always looking for who is the best out there. I feel like we are bringing the best in AEW.” [H/T: WrestlingInc]
