Ronda Rousey believes WWE pitted her against Alexa Bliss for one particular reason.
During a recent appearance on The Lapsed Fan podcast, the former “Baddest Woman on the Planet” spoke about her WWE run, including her feud with Alexa Bliss, over the RAW Women’s Championship.
Rousey implied she was not fond of WWE’s decision to have her square off against Bliss, adding The Goddess’ high merchandise sales may have factored into the company’s plans that ultimately led to their feud.
“The fact that they had me fighting Alexa Bliss at all was f**king ridiculous,” Rousey said. “And you wanna know why they had me against Alexa Bliss? Because she had the most merch sales at the time… Like, what the fck!? That’s your decision-making process?” [H/T Fightful]
Ronda Rousey steamrolled into the RAW Women’s Championship picture in 2018, beating Alexa Bliss for the title at SummerSlam. She successfully defended the title in a rematch at Hell in a Cell. She held onto the championship for almost a year, dropping it to Becky Lynch in a triple threat match that also had Charlotte Flair’s SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line at WWE WrestleMania 35.
