Matt Riddle continues to receive flak for his AJ Lee remarks
Former WWE star Matt Riddle somehow always finds a way to land himself in controversy. He reportedly recently no-showed a charity event, citing logistical issues, which prompted a lengthy response from Global Wrestling Kingdom.
Riddle also didn’t hold back ahead of AJ Lee’s WWE return, making harsh allegations against the former Divas Champion and her husband CM Punk—whom the Original Bro called “fake” and a “creep.”
“I don’t know. I feel like he’s just lingering around the NXT locker room a little too much,” Riddle said of Punk during an interview with TMZ.
Booker T reacts to Matt Riddle’s comments
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T addressed the comments on his Hall of Fame podcast, saying Riddle has ruined any chance of returning to his former promotion.
“Man, it’s one thing to burn bridges, but when you blow out the bridge like that… that’s another story,” Booker T said.
Booker T then praised CM Punk for maintaining his influence over fans throughout the years, noting that such dedication deserves recognition.
“Also, CM Punk has done a heck of a job creating the aura that he has in this business. For a guy like CM Punk to walk away… and the fans still kept his name alive… you don’t hate, you congratulate.
“[Riddle]’s joined a list to me—with him, Ryback, and to be honest, Swerve Strickland—people I don’t have any respect for after hearing some of the comments they’ve made.”
Booker said that he never had any beef with Riddle, despite saying he didn’t think he would not make it in the pro wrestling business. He added that Riddle doesn’t respect the business enough to make it to the next level, claiming the Original Bro was on the wrong track.
Booker went on to predict that Matt Riddle will never make it back to the “big leagues” again. He said that it’s one thing to burn bridges, but Riddle has gone and blown his bridges up.
