The Miz referenced his controversial history with Bryan Danielson by taking a slight dig at the current AEW commentator.
Miz and Danielson have a history dating back to their heated exchange on Talking Smack in 2016. There, Danielson (then known as Daniel Bryan) critiqued Miz as being too safe or boring in the ring. Miz lashed out and cut a now-infamous promo on Danielson, claiming The American Dragon’s reckless style in the ring is what sent him into early retirement.
The Miz made an appearance on Saturday’s two-hour Road to Wrestlepalooza broadcast hosted by O’Shea Jackson Jr. and T.J. Jefferson, hosts of No Contest Wrestling podcast. During his appearance, Miz was talking about his longevity in the business and once again referenced his “safe” wrestling style. This time, Miz refrained from mentioning Danielson by name, instead saying he “is no longer here.”
“I’ve had people tell me I have a ‘safe’ way of wrestling. But that person is no longer here anymore,” The Miz said. “So, we don’t need to talk about him.”

The Miz has regularly competed in WWE since 2006. He only missed a few months’ time in 2021 due to an ACL injury. This was also his first legitimate injury in his career.
Danielson came out of retirement and returned to competition for WWE in 2018. He left the promotion in 2021 and made his debut for AEW that same year. Danielson won the AEW World Championship in 2024, but lost it to Jon Moxley in his final match as a full-time in-ring competitor. Since then, Danielson has continued to make sporadic appearances at AEW events, including a dark match against Max Caster this year.
Danielson worked as a color commentator on the August 20, 2025 episode of Dynamite before Tony Khan made him a full-time color commentator for Dynamite.
