WWE Wrestlepalooza didn’t turn out to be the huge game-changing ESPN event that the company promised. However, if some things had gone differently, perhaps people would be singing a different tune.
It was originally announced that John Cena and Brock Lesnar would main event Wrestlepalooza. But it was later changed to the opening contest in favor of the WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre.
The match ended with little fanfare. Although the initial pitch for the finish of the match would have certainly gotten people talking.
According to BodySlam+, both Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre pitched a much different ending for the main event that would have seen Randy Orton accidentally cost Rhodes the WWE Championship.
This would have resulted in Rhodes eventually getting the title back from McIntyre before a full-fledged heel turn for Orton to set up his next feud.
In addition to that, BodySlam+ is also reporting that as of Saturday morning, Cena was scheduled to go over Lesnar. Why things changed for that match is unknown at this time.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
