Vince McMahon Made WWE Stars Cut Promos As Dogs

Vince McMahon wanted to bring the dog out of his WWE Superstars in a more literal way.

The Miz recently shared a story about the night he cashed in his 2010 Money In The Bank contract. The story wasn’t about his cash in itself, but it was a strange tale about Vince McMahon’s unique idea to have a promo class where everyone cut promos as animals.

According to The Miz, WWE Superstars Sheamus and Wade Barrett barked at each other and made dog noises. Despite the unusual nature of the exercise, Miz actually credited McMahon’s idea for helping him “lock in” for when he cashed in on Randy Orton later on that night.

Vince McMahon wanted the WWE roster to get their “inner animal” out

“Vince McMahon, he wanted us to get our inner animal out, so we had to cut promos like dogs. I watched Sheamus and Wade Barrett cut a promo as dogs,” The Miz told the No-Contest Wrestling podcast (H/T WrestleTalk). “And I’m telling you that was promo class that day.

“But honestly, when I got in that match, and if you watch that match back, you can literally see I am channelling that inner animal. I am seeing the injury and when an animal sees an injury that’s your target, that’s where you go. When a shark smells blood in the water, they target that right? So that’s what my mindset was, so that promo class helped me lock into that mode.”

This wouldn’t be the first time McMahon had a WWE Superstar act like a dog. Some fans may remember that he made Trish Stratus get on all fours and bark ahead of WrestleMania 17. However, that was an on-air segment, which Stratus said was designed to make viewers uncomfortable.

The Miz’s other interactions with No-Contest Wrestling’s O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson were also notable, as he also took a thinly-veiled jab at Bryan Danielson over the weekend.
