What did AEW have planned for Hologram before an unfortunate injury sidelined him for the rest of the year?
During the September 24 episode of AEW Dynamite, a TNT Championship match was made between Kyle Fletcher and Hologram for the company’s sixth anniversary show. Unfortunately, Hologram injured his knee during his match that evening and was written off AEW programming three days later on Collision.
Following the injury, Tony Khan announced that Hologram’s injury will likely keep him sidelined for the rest of the year. But what did AEW have planned for the undefeated luchadore ahead of this unfortunate injury?
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hologram’s winning streak was set to end this week on Dynamite. This would have been due to the debut of El CLON. The evil clone is portrayed by the former Arez, whom Hologram has noted in the past as being his favorite opponent. This was supposed to be the beginning of a “more sustained and serious push.”
Based on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, it appears El CLON will be associated with the Don Callis Family going forward.
Meltzer also unfortunately notes that Holgram’s injury is to the same knee he injured last fall. This could lead to potential chronic problems in the future for the talented performer.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
