AEW’s Eddie Kingston got brutally honest while addressing the next generation of wrestlers.
Speaking to Renee Paquette on Close Up, the inaugural AEW Continental Champion Eddie Kingston had an interesting response when Paquette asked him how he’d like to share his knowledge with the next generation of wrestlers, who might be familiar with a certain style of pro wrestling.
Eddie Kingston told the aspiring wrestlers to take advantage of platforms like YouTube and Google to search for wrestlers and matches they should watch, and claimed he didn’t have the same options when he was coming up in the industry. He also named Dean Malenko and Arn Anderson as people they can go for advice on who to watch for inspiration.
“You guys got YouTube, right? You guys got drives. We had to mail f*****g tapes and get it traded back to us, hoping that it was the right tape, and actually it was good quality, where you didn’t have to do tracking, folks… Like we had to search for s***t, these young kids don’t.”
“First off, who the f**k am I when you have Dean Malenko here? Who the f**k am I when you have Arn Anderson when he was here? Go to them, tell them who you should watch, YouTube it, Google it. What do I have to do? You got it easy, f**k you!”
He further stated that he’d help people by telling them to watch what he does in the ring, and explained that they’re in the “emotion business,” and that every move has to mean something.
“I don’t wanna help. People ask me why. I want to help certain people, and how I do it? I tell them, ‘watch what I do in the ring.’ I tell them also, ‘we’re in the emotion business, don’t ever forget that. Every move you do has to mean something,’ they (fans) have to care. The minute they stop caring about your moves is the minute they don’t care about you, and the minute they don’t care about you, you’re done!”
Eddie Kingston Had Some Warning For The Young Wrestlers Who Might Ignore His Advice
However, he also stated that the young wrestlers might not listen to his advice, saying some of them might think it’s easy to get reactions from the crowd. But Eddie Kingston warned them that it would only be a matter of time before the fans react another way.
“But again, they won’t listen, they won’t. Because, and I get it, the fans react. But guess what? I know for a fact, they’ll react more a certain other way. Well, fk me, at the end of the day, it’s not like I’ve been here 25 years, right? And stayed “f***g relevant!”
