Rey Mysterio says he likes to spread the wealth around, but he’d like his son to do the same thing in return.
Mysterio and rapper Quavo appeared on stage at Complex Con this weekend. The panel was recorded by Adrian Hernandez, and it featured Mysterio talking about how he enjoys spending money on his family and surprising them with gifts. He then took a playful dig at Dominik, who has been his on-air adversary in recent years.
“I try to get my son to buy me stuff, but he’s cheap as fuck,” Rey quipped. “Just to put my son out there, the worst thing he’s bought me, it was a birthday gift. We were already going through the storyline that we’re going through [where he’s saying] I’m a deadbeat dad. And for a present, he gave me a [San Diego] Padres hat, which I love the Padres, but a hat? Come on, dude. You’re making more money than me.”
Later in the panel, Mysterio was asked about the greatest WWE heel. Hernandez called out, “Your son” from the audience at Rey, which got a few ‘Yeahs’ in agreement.
‘Fuck my son,’ Rey deadpanned, which got a laugh from the crowd.
Rey went on to note that Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho were good heels, but they also got you to laugh too. Mysterio said Ric Flair was also a great example of being a heel, and agreed with Quavo’s suggestion of Vince McMahon.
Rey Mysterio has been out of action since April with a groin injury. However, it is believed that he’s close to an in-ring return after he was spotted training at the WWE Performance Center earlier this month.
