Elijah wants to give everything he has to TNA.
WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Elijah to promote TNA’s television tapings in Orlando and El Paso. The TNA star has been out with a torn triceps, but is getting closer to an in-ring return each week. He previously expressed his hope to be back in the ring for TNA’s Orlando tapings.
His in-ring return is still a doctor’s decision. However, Elijah still wants to regain the momentum he had and can’t see a reason not to be back in the main event picture.
“From a talent perspective, I see no reason not to be at the top of the card once all this stuff gets worked out and we build momentum. I was wrestling Trick Williams for the TNA Championship, getting in there with Ethan Page and Nic Nemeth, tagging with Joe Hendry, and mixing it up with Brian Meyers and Moose,” Elijah said. “I was really competing with some of the best TNA has to offer; I think that will probably be the course once I get back.
“If that means a World Championship, the International Title, or just taking care of the Nemeths or whoever else, I’m game for all of it,” He added. “I want to contribute to TNA in the biggest way possible. And in my mind, there’s no reason Elijah can’t be at the very top of TNA.”
When asked if there’s one particular title he’d like to compete for, Elijah said he’d be honored to hold any of them. However, the world championship is the pinnacle of the company.
“That’s what you want. It shows the company has your back, believes in you, and trusts you’re their guy,” he pointed out. “I just love the whole symbolism of what that means.”
Elijah wants to create experiences in the ring
Elijah started in NXT as Elias (Samson) before making waves on the WWE main roster as the mononymed Elias. When asked if there’s an Elias moment he’d like to get more attention, he shared his appreciation for the ones fans still talk about. He said that his goal as an entertainer is to create experiences for fans. He also shared one fond moment that didn’t make it to TV.
“A lot of people point to Seattle as a big moment in Elias’s career, or maybe when me and The Undertaker mixed it up. That’s another one I hear a lot. These are awesome moments. But if you go back and watch week after week of Monday Night Raw, SmackDown, pay-per-views, WrestleMania, every one of these could be a highlight of my career. The crowd was just so into it. Walk with Elias was so much fun. I think of Mick Foley, Trish Stratus, and others I got to face directly in the ring.
“I honestly feel like people remember these moments—they’re fun, memorable moments. That’s really what I want to do: create experiences for people. Whether it’s Ezekiel and Elias fist-bumping on Raw or Kevin Owens reacting, these are cool career moments people remember. They’re all special to me. Here’s one I’ll throw out before we wrap up: if anyone gets a chance to look up Elias in Buenos Aires, it never made it to TV, but the crowd was insane—singing, participating, just full of energy. That’s one I’d say check out.”
TNA will be in Orlando, Florida, from November 13-15. The promotion recently announced that Elijah will appear on Thursday’s live episode of IMPACT, where he will perform a concert. Tickets for each event are on sale now.
