New Network Emerges As Potential Suitor For TNA Media Rights Deal

A new network is reportedly looking to secure TNA Wrestling’s media rights.

Amid ongoing speculations about a new media rights deal being in the works for TNA Wrestling, a new report from Jon Alba of the Takedown on SI suggests that AMC is now looking to secure the rights.

It was earlier reported that TNA is looking to move to a WWE-affiliated network, which also included plans about moving iMPACT to Wednesday nights to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite. Dave Meltzer also reported that TNA was in talks with A&E and CW over a new TV deal.

Now, the new report states that AMC, a network known for premium cable TV shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead, has emerged as a new suitor for TNA Wrestling’s media rights. The network also has no prior WWE or pro wrestling ties.

iMPACT currently airs on AXS TV, which is owned by the promotion’s parent company, Anthem Sports & Entertainment. The promotion also airs the events on TNA+ and YouTube streams. However, TNA is looking for a new TV deal, which would see them go live 52 weeks a year. TNA President Carlos Silva also stated that the company is looking for a deal in the $10 million/year range.

Matt Hardy Recently Provided An Update On A New TNA TV Deal

Speaking on his  The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, reigning TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy stated that an announcement about the company’s new TV deal will come by the end of the year.

“I think some very exciting things are on the horizon,” Matt Hardy teased. “I think, from what I’m hearing, by the end of this year, first of next year, there is going to be a new media rights deal announced. It’s going to be huge.

“It’s going to be huge for TNA. Just being somewhere where we get more eyeballs on the product. We do have a very solid product, and I like what we’re doing. The fact that we’ve grown, especially in attendance, ticket sales, and buy rates. I’m proud of everybody. Everybody has busted their ass and worked really hard.” [H/T: Fightful]
