Tony Khan says he’d love to have Chris Jericho back on AEW TV if it makes sense.
Khan appeared on Tuesday’s episode of the Ariel Helwani Show, where he was asked about Jericho’s status with AEW. Jericho has been absent from television since April, and it’s been heavily rumored that he’s eyeing a return to WWE. Khan said he recently reached out to Jericho to wish him a happy birthday and confirmed Jericho is still under contract. However, Khan can’t say for sure that Jericho will ultimately return to AEW.
“I can’t speak to that [if Jericho will be back in AEW]. But I love having Chris in AEW and he’s always welcome. The door’s always open for Chris to come in,” Khan said.

Helwani then asked if Khan could share the reason for Jericho’s extended absence or divulge when his contract is up.
“It’s a very good question, and some of it comes down to working out the dates,” Khan replied. “I can’t— I would rather not get into [when Jericho’s contract ends], but also, I respect you asking about it. If I could give as much information as possible to keep a very constructive dialogue—I hope so. I hope we get Chris back and a star like Chris Jericho, you negotiate a certain number of dates. Chris has always been really great about being one of those wrestlers in AEW that when he’s in, he’s all the way in.”
Khan pointed out how they always talked about finding ways to keep Jericho involved while he kept his commitments to FOZZY and wrestling in Japan. Soon enough, Khan said, Jericho loved AEW enough that he was just there every week.
“If we can work out the dates and all the things, I would love for him to be here,” Khan added.
