Seth Rollins reflects on social media toxicity that affected his personal life in 2019.
WWE Superstars Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch recently appeared on Bert Kreischer’s Something’s Burning podcast. During the show, Rollins recalled a difficult period when social media negativity began to impact his personal life and affect his relationship with Lynch.
“I had a bad experience with it, but I’ve kind of got it under control these days,” Rollins said. “You know, it’s like a vicious cycle in our business. You do a thing, and you get an immediate live response from the audience.
“But now, you also get this social media effect where you get the live response online, and then you get this retroactive response in the days after, where everybody analyzes it and picks it apart. There are hot takes, and then there are even more hot takes, and whatever gets traction in the algorithm is usually negative or a hot take.
“You start to trick yourself into thinking, ‘Well, that’s reality. That’s the world I’m living in.’ When you’re already feeling bad about yourself or unsure about what you’re doing creatively, and then you have that on top of it, it piles on. You start to really feel a certain way about your work.”

“I found that it was affecting my personal life — my relationship, the decisions I was making, the way I interacted with her. It was really messing everything up. I sort of had a moment of full collapse and had to step back and say, ‘What am I doing? Let’s get this under control.’ So I did.
“This was around 2019. After that, I got it under control. Now I spend a lot less time on social media than I used to. I still have it, but I got rid of the cesspool that is Twitter — or X, whatever. I dumped that. Instagram exists, but I don’t really read comments on it. I don’t get into the weeds on that anymore.”
