Aleister Black Explains Why He Wasn’t Randy Orton’s Surprise Opponent At WrestleMania 41

Aleister Black reveals why he didn’t return as Randy Orton‘s surprise opponent at WrestleMania 41.

Aleister Black made his return to WWE on the episode of SmackDown after WrestleMania 41. However, fans wondered why the company didn’t bring him in as Randy Orton’s surprise opponent at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

During a recent interview on WrestleRant, Aleister Black revealed that there were talks about him being Randy Orton’s opponent at WrestleMania 41 and explained why WWE didn’t go with that idea.

“They were toying with a bunch of ideas. I know at one point there was this conversation about, like, ‘Oh maybe he’s coming back to wrestle Randy Orton at ‘Mania,’ and that was an actual thing that was discussed. But you also have to understand that that wasn’t an isolated thing, as to, like, ‘Oh, maybe it could be this,’ and then obviously all the focus went on that.

“It’s more like they’ll check a list of names,” Aleister Black continued, “and they’ll be like, ‘Oh, maybe it’s this person. Oh, maybe it’s this person. Hey, maybe why don’t we get so and so?’ It was counter-argued quickly because they were like, ‘Well, we don’t want him to lose coming back at WrestleMania. That doesn’t make any sense.'”

Aleister Black Was Happy Returning To WWE The Same Night His Wife, Zelina Vega, Won Her First-Ever Singles Title

“That was just a one-end like, ‘Oh, maybe we can do that. You know what? No.’ Because, at that point, they kind of already made the decision to bring me back. So, they had decided on it, then the Randy Orton thing came up.

“Then they were very quick to go like, “No, let’s keep it there.” They felt that they wanted to give it the right attention, and they wanted it to be specifically about me, which I’m very grateful for. What happened happened, and I really enjoyed it. It was a great night. It’s the same night that my wife (Zelina Vega) obviously won her first singles title,” Aleister Black said.
