Triple H says Roman Reigns has reached a level where he is bigger than the championship calling him a once-in-a-generation figure in WWE.
Speaking during the WWE Survivor Series: WarGames post-show, Triple H didn’t hold back, saying Reigns has reached a point few stars ever achieve. He said, “He’s almost transcended to a point in the business where he’s bigger than the championship. He’s bigger than being a world champion. He is just a legend unto himself.”
“I used to think that about Taker all the time. He just transcended the business in a way that you didn’t even need to talk about him in the title picture because he was epically in that circle. That is where Roman Reigns is right now. There is an aura about him and just something different.”
Triple H was asked whether his comments hinted at plans for WWE WrestleMania 42. He suggested that Reigns may not need to qualify for anything, “When you have a star the size of Roman Reigns, he transcends the world title, he transcends the Royal Rumble, he transcends the Elimination Chamber.”
He added, “Does he really need to qualify or does he just call his shot? That’s a decision that we here in the WWE need to make very shortly. I have a feeling that one of those two guys, CM Punk or Cody Rhodes, is on a collision course with Roman Reigns. It’s going to be interesting to see where that goes.” [H/T: Fightful]
This came after Reigns, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and The Usos lost the Men’s WarGames match. After the defeat, Roman told Cody that WarGames would be their final time teaming. A line that may be setting up a huge WWE WrestleMania 42 showdown.
Triple H says WWE Survivor Series: WarGames had more backstage drama than ever
Reports revealed that WWE stars were lobbying hard over the entrance order for the Men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series: WarGames. Triple H later confirmed this during the post-show press conference. When asked about the men’s WarGames match.
He said, “Unbelievable. One of the most star-studded WarGames I can recall. The level of star power that was in there was second to none. Everybody delivered. When you have Brock Lesnar, who does not team well with others. When you have Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, CM Punk, Logan Paul.”
“All these people that are in there putting things out at another level, and you see that competitive nature. The lobbying, the politics, the backstage tension tonight, you can cut it with a knife. It was epic. You saw that in people’s performances.”
