Bryan Danielson made a bold claim after Claudio Castagnoli defeated Jon Moxley in the AEW Continental Classic tournament.
On AEW Dynamite, Castagnoli faced fellow Death Riders member Jon Moxley in a Continental Classic Blue League main event. The match was important for both men, especially Castagnoli, who came in with big momentum after winning the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship last week.
Castagnoli entered wearing his new title as the two teammates fought to score crucial points in the tournament. The match turned intense fast, with Moxley bleeding as usual. In the end, both men traded heavy punches until Moxley suddenly hit the Paradigm Shift. But Castagnoli immediately fired back with a massive uppercut and pinned Moxley, securing the win.
After the match, Bryan Danielson reacted with a strong statement. He admitted that back when they were in the Blackpool Combat Club, he could never beat Moxley, which is why Moxley was viewed as the group’s leader.
He said, “When we were in the Blackpool Combat Club, I was never able to defeat Jon Moxley. That’s why we always saw him as the leader. Claudio Castagnoli just defeated Jon Moxley in the Continental Classic and now has six points. What a showing from Claudio. And what does this mean for Jon Moxley?”
Following the shocking loss, Moxley was shown looking frustrated at ringside. With several recent losses stacking up, this brings up the question of whether a new leader might rise within the Death Riders. Only time will tell.
