John Cena Has Closed The Chapter On A Pivotal Part Of His Career

John Cena isn’t looking to revisit his Thuganomics era any time soon.

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cena talked about his rap album You Can’t See Me, which will have its 21st anniversary in May 2026.

When asked if he plans to return to his rapper persona, Cena said:

“No way. No way. That chapter is closed. Just like we’re closing the WWE chapter on the 13th, the hip-hop chapter is closed.”

Asked if he still listens to the platinum-certified rap album, the former Undisputed WWE Champion responded:

“I do. Every year, I try to listen to it. I’m very proud of it. I look back on it very proudly, and I’m very proud of what we did.”

John Cena doubles down on plans for WWE retirement

Elsewhere in the interview, Cena reiterated his commitment to hang up his boots following his sendoff at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“It’s been a crazy year where I announced this 15 months in advance, I’m going to retire,” he said. “This has really never been done in WWE history. WWE Superstars don’t always necessarily ‘retire,’ they kinda hang on for one more match.

“I am absolutely, 100 percent done. The 13th of December on Peacock is my last in-ring performance. I will never wrestle again.”

John Cena will face the winner of the Last Time Is Now Tournament. The bracket has come down to LA Knight and Gunther, with the tournament winner advancing to face Cena in his final match.
