John Cena Shares His Post-Match WWE Retirement Plans

John Cena reveals what he’s planning to do after his last match.

17-time WWE Champion John Cena will compete in his last match on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event. He will face either Gunther or LA Knight at the show. While he previously noted that fans will see him in an ambassador role in WWE after his retirement, John Cena revealed some other post-retirement plans while speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Although he didn’t outline any new long-term plans, John Cena did let everyone in on what he’s planning to do on the night of his retirement and the day after.

“That night, I’m going to spend a lot of time with the folks I love, who I connect strongly with. I think the next day, I hope to wake up hungover.”

John Cena Explained Why He’s OK With His Jorts Being Mocked

Speaking on a recent episode of RAW Recap, John Cena recalled facing criticism and even harassment over his trademark jorts. He noted that he wore them despite anything because the jorts were one of the aspects that made his character authentic.

“My takeaway on that is, it’s okay to be authentic,” John Cena began. “I’m able to be confident enough in myself to weather the storm of criticism and, in many cases, harassment and ridicule.

“To be able to wear a uniform that I felt comfortable in. A character that I felt comfortable in, and not waver when other people wanted to be pleased. Not waver from what was in my heart. Because my first run, my first try, I tried to please everyone, and it was inauthentic. And when I got a chance to be a character, the stuff where I wanted to evolve the character, I still maintained my authenticity.

“I think that’s important for any longstanding success in here. You do good work, coachable, reliable, and you’re invested. I think the investment is passion. The passion can reflect authenticity. The jorts now are in whatever perspective they’re in, because I just wouldn’t give up on wearing them. I could take their best shot, their biggest ridicule, and still put forth great effort, be reliable, and do good work while wearing cutoff jeans,” John Cena said.
