AJ Styles enjoyed one of the most successful WWE careers ever. However, the WWE Hall of Famer recently admitted he always carried one major fear.
A few months ago, WWE released several superstars and veteran names. The list included The New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. Now, Sheamus has also left the company, surprising many fans.
Despite winning championships and reaching the top, Styles also worried WWE could release him at any time.
AJ Styles admits he always feared a WWE release
While discussing Sheamus’ departure on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles opened up about his own biggest fear. He said, “My biggest fear was that I would be asked… well I would be released in some way. Other people think you’re AJ Styles why would you even think that way? Because I don’t see myself the way that you see me.”
Styles admitted that fear stayed with him throughout his run. “So that was always my biggest fear is they would release me. For me that would be… I’d be embarrassed. That being like, ‘Oh he’s not good enough at his job so he’s worth losing.'”
