Rob Van Dam opened up on whether he has any beef with a controversial ECW star.
During a live Q&A session on his YouTube channel, WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam clarified that he doesn’t have any problems with former ECW Tag Team Champion Stevie Richards. The two had a back-and-forth exchange on social media over the Syko Stu-Raja Jackson incident earlier this year.
“No, I’m not beefing with him,” Rob Van Dam began, “And we are as good friends as we’ve ever been. We’ve never been real close. I’ve never hung out with him. We’ve never gone to a restaurant or anything together. I just see him in the dressing room at the wrestling shows.
“I learned to respect him more as time has gone on. Mostly because, back in the midst of it, when I’m in that competitive state of mind, even though it’s a job, you get sucked up into the hierarchy of it. You look at it if you’re a bigger star, you look at some of the other guys if they’re like stooges.
“Anyway, back in the ECW days, I’m sure that I was arrogant enough to feel like I belonged there more than probably bWo (Blue World Order). Even though they were a part of the show, it was just like, ‘Hey, I’m main event,’ and you have a pull, like, ‘Paul (Heyman) don’t f*ckin book them.’ You probably even have some leverage for that. But I always liked them, got along with them, but now I’m able to see guys like that on a more vertical playing and look at people like that more as if we’re just two guys doing a job, Rob Van Dam said.
Stevie Richards Differed With Rob Van Dam’s Stance On The Syko Stu-Raja Jackson Incident
“I said that I hoped Syko Stu was doing well, and I said that, ‘Basic thinkers are going to think since I said I got dude’s (Raja Jackson) back, that I must hate Stu.’ Because they think you gotta pick a side, and they can’t both be true at the same time. That’s how basic thinkers think.
“Stevie said, ‘Well, I guess I’m a basic thinker then.’ So, to that I say, ‘F*ck you, Stevie. You’re admitting that you’re a dumbass, and you think that I can’t want Stu to be healthy and still be able to explain why Raja did what he did.’ I think Stevie’s smarter than he gives himself credit for,” Rob Van Dam said.
