Becky Lynch Shares John Cena’s Uplifting Advice After Disappointing WWE Match

Becky Lynch says John Cena helped her turn things around after a disappointing SummerSlam match.

WWE shared a new video of talent looking back on the advice they’ve gotten from John Cena, who will compete in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Becky Lynch shared that she was disheartened with her SummerSlam 2025 match against Lyra Valkyria. However, Cena’s words helped put things in perspective for her.

“So just this past SummerSlam, I had a match and it wasn’t my favorite match. I didn’t love the match, and I came back and I was downtrodden, I was upset. He was like, ‘Hey, you good? [Are] you physically fine?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ [Cena asked if Lyra Valkyria was] physically fine. I said yeah. He’s like, ‘Did the crowd react?’ I said yeah. So he said, ‘Then what’s the problem?’

“I said that it just wasn’t my best. And he said, ‘Well, you get to do it tomorrow.’ And I think that kind of simple advice of nothing is ever permanent in this business and we can go and one match, one promo, everything can turn everything around. The next night, I went out and had a pretty damn good promo, if I must say so myself. I may have namedropped him in that promo, and he texted me and he said, ‘See, it can all turn around in one night.’”

CM Punk was also one of the WWE Superstars who shared the advice John Cena gave him, which seems like he has stuck with to this day.
