Only a select few WWE Superstars got the privilege to share the ring with John Cena in his final year as a professional wrestler.
WWE Superstar Finn Balor recently spoke with The Sun. When asked what it was like to share the ring with John Cena for one of his final matches, Balor admitted he was super surprised he got to share the ring with the “Never Seen 17,” making it clear that it was a huge honor for him.
“I was super surprised to be involved in his last match at MSG, which was a huge honor. And a lot of fun – especially three Irish boys in there in New York City,” Finn Balor said. “So that was a lot of fun. Then getting to come out there at Survivor Series, be involved in that. Which was not only a huge moment for John, being his last premium live event match, but also huge for Dom in his hometown, in his favorite baseball team’s stadium against John Cena.

“It was such a huge event for them both. The spectacle was really cool for me. It had been brought up to my attention a couple days before it might be a possibility. But in WWE, you never get attached to any idea until I’ve got my gear on and the music is playing. [laughs]. The closer it got to the day, I thought, ‘wow, maybe this is going to stick.’ It was a great night. I didn’t expect to be in a ring with John again. Being in there for such an important moment for him at a historic venue for us – it was a real career memory for me.”
