We now know who will face Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil later this month.
Je’Von Evans won the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline and was set to challenge Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil. But for some reason, Evans decided he couldn’t wait and requested his title match early. He got his wish and lost the match thanks to outside interference from former NXT Champion Ricky Saints.
Due to this, a new number one contender needed to be decided on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT. The main event featured the other four men who competed in the Iron Survivor Challenge. Those four men were Joe Hendry, Myles Borne, Dion Lennox, and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater. So which man came out on top?
The finish of tonight’s main event saw Leon Slater hit Myles Borne with the Swanton 450 to score the pinfall victory.
So now the TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater will challenge Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil.
Tonight’s WWE NXT kicked off with a massive botch and title change
WWE NXT tonight kicked off with a huge botch that led to an unexpected title change.
Tonight’s episode of WWE NXT kicked off with Blake Monroe defending the Women’s North American Championship against Thea Hail. This was a match that Monroe was clearly booked to retain. However, things didn’t go according to plan.
In the closing moments of the match, Thea Hail hit Blake Monroe with a springboard senton splash. When Hail went for the cover, Monroe didn’t kick out. The referee counted things as a shoot, and the three-count was executed before the champion could kick out.
