This TNA star wasn’t afraid to use her sexual prowess in pro wrestling.
During a recent appearance on Velvet Ropes with SoCal Val, TNA Hall of Famer Traci Brooks opened up about dressing sexy, noting that she was never forced to use her sexual appeal on television and that it was always her choice.
“Yeah, I do. But it’s the same for the guys. They’re in trunks, right? They all want to look good and shine themselves up. It’s no different. Women just don’t necessarily talk about it as much as the guys do,” Brooks said.
“They’re not always doing photo shoots and stuff, I get that. But yeah, it was empowering — and we also got to wrestle. Even back in the day, I debuted in a cage match. I did a catfight, but I also wrestled. I was in a tag team with David Young, and we made it to the finals of the tag team tournament.”
Traci Brooks on how she stood out in TNA
“I got to wrestle and use my sexuality, and that’s what made it different. That’s what I loved about it. I loved the storytelling. I always wanted to be a soap opera actress.
“The weirder and crazier the stories, the better. That’s why I fell in love with wrestling. I was athletic. I was a tomboy. Then I realized, yeah — sex sells. But I was choosing to do it.
“I chose how I dressed. Nobody told me what to wear. The schoolgirl outfit was mine on the indies. I brought it in. I wasn’t forced into anything — it was my choice. That’s why it was empowering. I always say it’s like an onion. There are layers to a person. Being a valet gives someone another layer, and that’s why I loved it. I think that’s a lost art.”
Traci Brooks is best known for her stint in TNA from 2003 to 2012. She made a brief return to the promotion at Slammiversary 2023 to set up a mixed tag match involving her husband, Frankie Kazarian, Eddie Edwards, and his wife, Alisha Edwards, on the 1000th episode of iMPACT. Brooks was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame at Bound for Glory 2023.
