Bully Ray believes just because John Cena has officially retired, it doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of him on WWE programming.
On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray spoke about a future storyline between Cody Rhodes and Gunther, where he believes John Cena will return to the company to play a key role in it.
“One day, Cody Rhodes is going to be face-to-face with Gunther,” Bully Ray began. “I don’t know when. Obviously, there’s the Brock stuff. Eventually, Cody Rhodes is going to come before Gunther. And by the time we get there, Gunther will have been built up to a level where he will be the immovable force, the irrefutable object, blah, blah, blah. He’s going to be that guy. And Cody is going to have doubt.
“And Cody is going to have a problem with Gunther. Cody is going to be down in the dumps. And Cody is going to forget where he came from. And Cody is going to have issues. And one day, like a force ghost popping up, John Cena will return at the right moment to remind Cody who he is.” [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
John Cena reveals his favorite wrestling moment
Cena was the latest guest on What Do You Wanna Talk About with Cody Rhodes. During the show, Cena revealed CM Punk’s moment in Saudi Arabia this year is his favorite wrestling moment of all time.
“I can’t get past Phil Brooks, CM Punk, Saudi Arabia,” John Cena began. “I think that might be my favorite moment in wrestling. I was lucky enough to have a promo with him that night and a match (the following night), so I’m attaching myself to that moment, because I think it’s one of the best moments in wrestling.
“You had someone who, in a moment of frustration, said some pretty hateful things about a culture. And then you have that culture being like, ‘Fu*k you, come at us!’ And then you have a man who’s brave enough to walk into the lion’s den, and for the young performers, old performers, please watch that pre-show. I think it fell under everybody’s radar. I was bawling my eyes out, saying, ‘This is the best thing ever.’”
